I've just had a brief skim through "Social Media Metrics" by Jim Sterne and found the perfect summary of this exercise.

Excellent. So now perhaps this is an opportunity for clever people to turn data into insights.
ReplyDeleteMuch better to have data to inform insights. It sure beats intuition and guesswork.
What is interesting about the data so far is that intuitively, or just a quick glance, shows that Gordon Brown has less of a footprint (OK no footprint) and guess what, the Labour Party (24 April), is changing its campaign strategy to give him a bigger image.
The word picture provided an insight at a glance. Don't think you can do better than that.
The data you're displaying here shows no such thing.
