I have been on the r...40duce, Mark you are right. <br /><br />I have been on the receiving end of a lot of doubt expressed about the effectiveness of social media in the communications mix.<br /><br />The reason for this post was to demonstrate for the PR industry and for clients that there is already significant evidence that social media relations has very direct and powerful influences. <br /><br />The post shows that there is a correlation between discourse and behaviour. What is really significant is that social media as an intermediary is affective when well executed.<br /><br />We see better correlation in social media than say, media relations, partly because the available metrics are more accessible. While I agree that social media can 100% be used for sales, I don't think that too much effort should be put into directly selling through the medium.
